Costumes

The costumers are vital for any film however in thrillers and it is apparent that you can distinguish between good and bad by the costumers worn. I anaysed Sorority Row and Edan Lake as they both fit in with the thriller genre however are very different as one is set in a posh area of teenagers and the other is set out in a wooded area where there are not other people.

Edan Lake Victim

 

The victims in both the films are all wearing day to day clothing, however when the film takes off the clothing is always unsuitable for the situation making them look more vunerable. The clothing is generally a high colour to show that they are 'good'. The victims within both films have clothing that becomes dirty or torn as the film goes on. In Edan Lake it is set in wooded area which means it would become dirty because of the mud and that is without any other effects such as blood from a wound. This is something which as a group we will need to consider as our trailer is set in a similar area to Edan Lake.

The villians in both the films are all wearing dark clothing to highlight to the audience that they are bad. In Sorority Row the villians face is covered in order to hide his identiy from the audience and this is something we need to think about in our film as we do not want to give away who the villians are to early on as they could potentially be someone unexpected or know to the victim.

In Edan Lake the teenagers are wearing steorotypical clothing so that intially all teenagers can relate to them, however this then changes because of their actions throughout the film. The villians in our A2 trailer are of around the same age as those in Edan Lake so it will be benefical to dress them in sterotypical teenage boy clothing. For example; jeans, jacket and trainers.

 

 

Our Trailer costumes:

The costumes for our trailer will show the two villians in dark clothing covering their faces and the victims will be in lighter clothing which is fit for the situations which they think they are going to. The girls head for for a camping trip so will be shown in wellies, and camping tear such as tracksuits and waterproofs. This means we are keeping to the conventions as villians want to hide their indenty which will be done with the dark clothing to help disskies them as the setting is dark. The victims are fitting in the clothing they are wearing because like other images shown they are all dresses for the situation they think they are in or going too.
