The printscreen below was feedback on our final A2 trailer which was posted on Facebook in order to receive comments from a wide range of people.
The comments which we had on Facebook show a postive response in relation to our trailer. Comments had words such as, 'scary' which is a good point for our group as that was the effect we wanted from the audience.
The last comment of, ' good camera and cutting work' highlights that we as a group were able to do this effectively to portray the genre to the audience. I feel if we did not film and edit this way then the trailer would not be scary even if the shots we the same. The fast pace in vital areas and the short cuts of footage make the audience feel panicked and a feeling of intensity is given off. The feedback shows that is worked.
Review from Vicky, who is in our target audience range at 16:
"I thought that the way it was happy at the beginning and scary from the middle-end was really effective as it shows the characters in their life being happy and acting like teenagers then the bad things happen to them which makes it appealing to me as I can relate to how it would feel as I am the same age. I think the music really helps create the thrill for the trailer as it builds up the tension and makes you anticipate something to happen at the end, like the girl being dragged. The man that says "i will find you" sounds very strong and scary which makes the girl look even more vunerable. It also indicates the challenge of a chase accepted, showing that the girl has a struggle ahead of her. The title sequence is very effective because the red symbolises many things that could be related to the trailer; evil, blood and hell which gives the idea of the genre".
Review from Alex, who is also in our target audience range at 18:
"A wide range of camera angles utilised along with hand held sections to engage and draw in the audience. Progressive soundtrack building suspense throughout the clip. High tension created from the outset. Leaves the audience wanting more. Professional credits".
Review from Mandy, who is also in our target audience range at 17:
"The music helped engage me from the beginning and heightened the sense of tension. Text screens were well used to give the audience an idea of the premise of the film. The trailer gave me goosebumps. The scene where someone was dragged away stuck in my mind in particular. I would like to see the actual film to find out what happens!"
By combining the comments made and our decisions for the trailer I feel we have made it a sucess overall.
The comment, ' he music help engage me' was effective in stating what a good job was done with the music in our trailer. As a group we wanted the music to constrast each other which was why we used fast and slow paced sections and as well as this for it to be fitting with the visual. The reason for doing this was to enage and help the audience to feel, tension and suspense, and this was achieved by our target audience commented on the way they felt and how the music 'engaged' them.
The comment, '... happy at the beginning and scary from the middle-end was really effective as it shows the characters in their life being happy and acting like teenagers then the bad things happen to them which makes it appealing to me as I can relate to how it would feel as I am the same age...'. This helps to show the effectivenss of our film as our message was fate doesn't discrimate. The person asked said they can relate which highlights that the girls in the film are ordinary and come from a place much like the viewers, however it the trailer highlights that even ordianary girls who are going out with their friends can end up in a terrible situation which is life threatening. This helps justify that are trailer was a sucess as they message we wanted to portray was recieved.
